Opossum Trapping and Removal in Cape Coral, FL
We Find and Evict Opossums and Their Many Young
Opossums are very common in Southwest Florida, and because of that, they take residence in attics and under floorboards, porches and sheds. They are the only marsupials in North America. The females have pouches on their belly, and they can give birth to very large litters, as many as 13 at a time. They are very solitary and nomadic, staying in one area as long as food and water are easily available. At AAA Wildlife Trapping & Removal Services, we know the habits and the places where the opossums live in homes and on properties. Call us at (239) 440-7783 at any time to safely and humanely get rid of opossums.
Opossums Can Create Lots of Damage in an Attic
Opossums are nocturnal, and they like dark places like attics, where they can do a lot of damage. They will tear into boxes of clothes, blankets, newspapers and other items, pull them out of the box and set up their bedding. That will not be the worst of the damage, however. Many of these nuisance animals carry fleas, and they have parasites and bacteria in their waste. If they have been there a long time, the urine and droppings will ooze into the boards, causing damage and, because of the parasites, threatening your health.
Get Rid of Opossums Before They Die in Your Home
Like many nuisance animals, opossums can emit a strong odor. When they die in an attic or in a wall, though, the stench can be even worse. Contact AAA Wildlife Trapping & Removal Services owner Alfredo Fermin before that happens, or when the odor is driving you out of the house. He will trap these odd-looking creatures, remove them from your Lee County, Charlotte County or Collier County home and relocate them to their natural habitat.
They Really Do “Play Possum”
Opossums, which are the size of a cat, are known for “playing possum,” or playing dead as a defense tactic when they feel threatened. The response is involuntary, and the body can be prodded and carried away without any reaction. They can play dead for many hours before they regain consciousness.
